No more RV

The last three places we stayed had no cell, network, or wireless access. We'll have to fill in the blanks later. Right now we're back in Bozeman. We dropped Lou at the airport yesterday so she was able to take a real shower and sleep in her own bed last night. We cleaned the RV last night and Rusty and Peter are taking it back this morning after heading to UPS to ship back our tent and massive tourist accumulations.

Going to the Sun Road

The first full day the road  was open and we were on a red bus jammer tour.

Little bit of drama when a little old lady from Texas dressed in a light windbreaker complained of the cold, but the majority of the riders voted to take the top off!

Especially when the driver said to look up at the mountain to see something he was pointing out and Lou said, "I would look if I could see out"

So off the to came and a append tour we had.

Boat ride at St. Mary

Awesome ride.  Weather kind of sucked so we were the only ones on the boat with the exception of a reporter who interviewed Rusty and gave Miya photography tips.

On the way to Many Glacier

On or way to Many Glacier we stopped briefly in Kalispell.  We decided the only good thing there was the French bakery, where we had delicious espresso and fresh baked bread and pastries.  We pretty much cleaned out the place on bead.

Osprey

We saw the Osprey bring a fish to the nest then eat it with another Osprey. I took a picture through the telescope at the visitor center.

Rising Sun Campground

Already had the ranger in our camp as a bear was just spotted behind our site.  Just a little while later this deer came by.  We figure that means the bear is gone.

St Mary, Glacier National Park

Drove from Flathead Lake to the KOA campground in St Mary with a quick stop for groceries and a French bakery for latte's, cappuccino, tea and fresh baked bread.

We pretty much bought out the fresh bread and pastries, they were delicious!

Camping for the next two nights at Rising Sun campground in east Glacier.  Tomorrow doing the Going to the  Sun Road in the red bus jammer.  The road just opened!

Things I don't like about the RV

A. They say it's designed for a family of 7 but they lie.
B. The bed is way too far from the floor.
C. Same note on the toilet.
D. There's no room for your feet in the bathroom.
E. Same note on the bedroom.
F. The shower cannot be used by anyone over about 4'6" and 120 lbs.
G. It bounces every time someone rolls over at night.
H. There's no oven.

Things I like about the RV

A. It's an RV. The word "recreational" literally means "recreational."
B. It has a bathroom on board, which includes a shower with hot running water and soundproofing and a roof vent fan that works really well.
C. It has a kitchen on board that has a lot of food in it, including ice cream.
D. It has a 4 seat dinette on board.
E. It has a bedroom on board.
F. You can drive it to Montana, should you so choose.
E. It's a Ford.
F. It has speakers in the bedroom.
G. It has a ton of LED interior lights.

Toast

Is good when cooked in a toaster.

Halfway

We reached the halfway point yesterday.

Our campground, should we stay another night?

Jenny Lake

Today we saw two moose. Also a little girl on a bicycle. I ate all the Ben and Jerry's for lunch. Then I took an oxycodone and watched the fire burn. We tried to make Jiffy Pop but we were too stupid...

Jackson Lake

Mud Pots

We've had great weather now and are in full tourist mode.  This  picture was  taken yesterday at the Mud Pots.  We're on our way to Jenny Lake and a boat ride.  I will be recreating my childhood.  Stay tuned...

Day 6

We saw some Beavers at the side of the road but the big news is, we saw a wolf in Hayden Valley. The Ranger said the pack had just made a kill yesterday and all of them were out there but we only saw the one. Then we drove to Grand Teton NP and we are camped at Colter right next to Jackson Lake. Spectacular view of the Tetons over the lake. I will try to use my phone to take more photos so I can blog them.

Bad milk?

Sharon tested it the old fashioned way - by drinking it!

Time

Is like a river. Sometimes it flows over the falls by the metric ton. Other times it eddies and swirls so slowly it barely seems to be moving at all.

Gas station burritos

Is what I had for breakfast, to much derision. But I don't mind because they are tasty.

P. S.

It is smowing here right now...

Rocks

It is illegal to take a rock home from Yellowstone. Imagine if everyone who visits over the next 500000000 years took a rock, there'd only be about 9999999999999999999999999999999 etc rocks left!

Good night

Such a very good day after such a bummer of a night.  Awesome afternoon  being  tourists checking out the falls, a surf and turf dinner work tofu for the vegetarian. Dessert of smores by the campfire.  You couldn't have asked for a better day.  About 30 degrees now with some occasional snow flakes.  Beautiful evening.  Everyone happy and content.

No rain so no leaks...

Yellowstone Canyon

Now I see why they call this place Yellowstone...

Repair

Made it to Canyon Village, we kaept all the windows down to dry out the inside. Kind of like a freezer only with a 30 mph wind coming outta the north...

Canyon Village

The repair is done but it looks like rain so we'll see...I walked over to the campground and its a good thing because we got one of the 3 spots left, in a campground with a thousand spots.

Bear sighting

We saw mama and a cub by the road, of course there's a buncha dingalings out there trying to get close enough to pet the bear...we had to keep driving since we needed to get our repair done asap. I have a feeling we'll see more though.

Rain

Epic storm last night, we musta had at least 4 inches. I am waiting for a call back from the RV place about the leak. The drivers seat is completely soaked...

first My Adonis second Five Sixteen third Street Life fourth Paynter

Elk everywhere

There's elk everywhere we even saw a mother and baby walk right in front of the RV...

Part two

So I called the 800 number amd they have a service center in Yellowstone but it doesn't open until 8 tomorrow morning so I guess I know what we are donig tomorrow...

Roof leak

Well we made it to Yellowstone and got a campsite and fixed dinner (spaghetti marinara salad garlic bread yum) but then Miya noticed A ROOF LEAK in the dern cab over and Peter and Sharon's sleeping area got soaked...also Lou's sleepimg bag.

Chico bound

On the road to Chico.  We hung out for a long time at the hot springs (thanks to Bryant and Sierra for the great tip).  Nothing wrong with a cocktail and hot water!

On the way to Mammoth....

National chocolate ice cream day

Well, we made it to our first campground.  Didn't get  here until 9:30.  Celebrating the day with Ben & Jerry's.

We're all hooked up and have power and water. Dinner was on the road. Just sandwiches but delicious since we were all starving.

We were at the store for about three hours. Did you know you can park you're RV at Walmart overnight for free.  We didn't do that.

We're parked off the Yellowstone river.  Going to Chico Hot Springs in the morning, then into Yellowstone.

Long day today but we're all organized and ready to enjoy all now.

Goodnight!
